I'm with skinnedsheep, ive been going over it in my mind and I think I would simply play the doubt card. Remember, scripturally, doubters are supposed to be shown tender care and thusly be 'snatched out of the fire.'

i have been pondering over the demands made by the governing body for absolute loyalty and unquestioning obedience to their interpretation of scripture.
is this a reasonable request and is it in line with scripture?
alternatively is there in fact a scriptural defence for taking personal responsibility for beliefs and having a questioning attitude when being told what is to be believed.. there are ample scriptural warnings about trusting in men psalm 146 v 3 warns us not to put our trust in nobles or earthly men and galatians 1 v 8 goes even further stating that even if an angel were to preach to us something contrary to the teachings of christ it should be ignored.
Thanks for putting it so concisely, there are so many points in this that I want to digest, i just know that if I was questioned about my feelings on the matter there's NO WAY I'd be able to put it across so fluently, so eloquently, so reasonably.

this is vague but i was wondering if anyone has heard about the word "change" being used lately in jw circles?
my brother (an elder and devout jw) used it in an e-mail a couple of months ago and it seemed odd.
he said, "you like change".
I had a conversation with a young elder last month about the pharisaical legalism, man made laws, and how it doesn't seem to be what Jesus was all about, and he not only agreed but said there are many who feel the same. He reckoned as the old school of elders retire and pass away, the younger new breed would instigate change from the bottom up.
I was kinda gobsmacked, ive been closely listening to his comments after that, but I'm sure he doesn't know ttatt, hes just an idealist working on the inside..
So it seems some feel there's need for change, but like many of us it can't be vocalised...

by 'actively vocal', i do not mean openly criticising the articles and pointing out the inconsistencies or flipflops (not footwear, reversals).
i do mean letting people know that you're finding it hard to understand the new truth, and the fact that there is therefore old truth, or falsities, (is that a word?
it is now), therefore if there are falsehoods (that's the word, of course), then that puts into doubt the extent of jah's involvement in the preparation/dissemination of it all... (and making it clear you're not saying they aren't gods prophets on earth, just that you're not sure, don't know).. the reason i ask is cos i'm finding it hard to completely fade without an external reason.

I've been thinking about this too, there are plenty of opportunities in the highlights of the bible reading, wt study, book study, to bring out controversial yet incontrovertible facts..
I nearly did this this week regarding Jesus being the mediator for all men. I was gonna tow the party line and quote the wt that says he's actually the mediator only for the 144000 but that we benefit by association, something clearly taught but clearly NOT what the scriptures say. .
I chickened out.
